Past… Charting the City: Alternative Mapping, Hidden Pathways, and Contemporary Cartography

For our first event of the summer we are hosting a panel on alternative ways of mapping, moderated by Lily Consuelo Saporta Tagiuri (3x almanac contributor!). Lily will facilitate a discussion with Canal Street Research Association, Lauren Hudson, and Lucía Cozzi on the many ways they think about and portray space in their work.

Canal Street Research Association: CSRA is a fictional office entity that operates out of various disused spaces – empty storefronts, office buildings, kiosks, and basements – on Canal Street, New York’s counterfeit epicenter.

Lauren Hudson: Lauren is an organizer with the Solidarity Economy Principles Project and a geographer who teaches at the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies as well as The Design and Urban Ecologies Program at Parsons.

Lucia Cozzi: Lucía Cozzi is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher. From the intimate to the collective, her public programs, textile works, and collaborations are living evidence of the interrelations between technology, ecology, & affects.

The panel will take place in (NYC) Chinatown, RSVP for the exact location.
